Vulkollan casting

PEMÜ Műanyagipari Zrt. has been dealing with the processing of casted polyurethane elastomers for more than 4 decades with which it has become a market leader in Hungary. The products produced by the factory are made from crosslinked, two- or multicomponent polyurethane raw materials. Polyurethanes are elastomers with special properties which are made of various raw materials based on the requirements of their application. Their excellent mechanical properties and resistance, such as hardness (from soft gel to extreme hardness), colour, resistance to abrasion, and electrical conductivity are customisable.

The vulkollan plant’s production capacities meet the Industry 4.0 requirements.

As a result of its high-level technical knowledge in engineering PEMÜ Zrt. is able to provide assistance in the selection of raw materials, the design and making of production tools, and the production of excellent quality products. The plant is also prepared to carry out supplementary processes on its products (cutting, turning, slicing, milling). Along with producing standard product groups (rods, bushings, sheets, flat springs, gas and water seals, star coupling inserts etc.) individual ideas can be carried out as well.

PEMÜ Zrt. is manufacturing and ensuring the quality of its products according to the most recent quality standards (IATF 16949:2016, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 50001:2018), confirmed by certificates obtained during audits.


Casted polyurethane rods are semi-finished or finished items available in a given size range and hardness. From these, special machine units and components can be manufactured by chipping or other processes.


Springs, bushings

Springs and bushings can be used in the making of punching- and deep-drawing tools due to the unique combination of excellent properties of polyurethane elastomers used.


Flat seals

One of the major areas of their application is the vast and diverse cluster of sealings. Flat seals, used in water and gas pipes are more notable, these are manufactured in accordance with the standard marking system (NA), and in a given size range. They are made in PUA 90 Sh A quality, their use in drinking water pipes is permitted and their pentane resistance is confirmed by certificates. Its compliance with specific hygiene requirements is confirmed by “Certificate of Constancy of Performance”.


Permatight seals

 Waterproof cable gland sealings (or Permatight seals) are another important branch of seals which provide optimal sealing with their special construction. They are made in full size range and come with a mounting sleeve. The compliance of the product with the hygiene requirements is confirmed by the “Consistency of Performance Certificate“, and the compliance with the technical parameters is confirmed by the “Declaration of Performance“.

Other seals

Due to the wide range of hardness, resistance to abrasion, and flexibility of castable polyurethanes a wide variety of seals can be made according to the customers’ needs such as scraper rings, sealing sleeves, and other custom-made seals.




Sheets, boards

As a consequence of their excellent resistance to abrasion, PU sheets are commonly used to cover surfaces exposed to wear. The sheets or boards of different sizes and shapes can be used to form an abrasion resistant layer via gluing. To form an abrasion resistant layer the sheets or boards of different sizes and shapes must either be glued together or glued to a surface.

Thanks to their excellent tensile strength sheets and boards can be applied as punch mass too, based on individual needs.


By using the items of this product group custom or shaped sheets, sealings and other shapes can be created through punching. Their size range and material properties (hardness) vary. This product is made in 3 x 0.5 m size in a drum centrifuge

Snow-plough edge, concrete industry scraper slat, cutting slats

Another area of use for casted polyurethanes – due to the material’s excellent properties (resistance to heat and abrasion) – are snow-plough blades that are available in different sizes and shapes. The long service life of the product and the achievement of multiple hardnesses without reinforcement also allow it to adapt to different pavements. Urethane stripping strips are widely used in the concrete industry due to their abrasion resistance and simple shape design. Cutting slats are the most important elements of paper machines and equipment, available in several sizes.



Clutches are structural elements to transmit torque between propulsion engines and machinery, to dampen and eliminate shocks and oscillations from the driven machine generated during rotation. DITEK inserts, manufactured in full size range are available for purchase with metal housing as well. Other inserts for clutches are also available in different sizes and shapes.


Castor-wheels, wheels

Thanks to their excellent tensile strength, good resistance to abrasion and dynamic load capacity, casted polyurethane castor-wheels have a wide area of application. They are made of polyurethane elastomers in accordance with technical requirements. Their sizes and shapes are represented on a wide scale: both a separate tread and coating on the hub are possible.



Cast polyurethane is also suitable for creating coatings for cylinders. This is possible by casting polyurethane on metal or by pulling the finished material onto the cylinder. The cylinders can be finished to a desired size by turning or grinding.

Abrasion resistant coating

Casted polyurethanes, due to their excellent resistance to abrasion, can also be applied for tasks where various machine elements or components are subject to heavy abrasion.

These are usually individual needs.

The layer can be formed by casting it on metal or by gluing the boards, sheets or foils onto the given surface.


Other structural elements

Casted polyurethane can also be used to create parts with a complicated and complex shape, thanks to the raw material’s exceptional qualities and relatively simple tooling.

An example for that is the hydrocyclone gear ring.

Making products from this material often represents a significant advantage over the use of other plastic processing technologies because of the tooling costs and quantity requirements (small series).
