The Ministry for National Economy and the Hungarian Agency for Economic Development (MGFÜ) organized a series of presentations and a roundtable discussion focusing on topics of key importance from the perspective of PEMÜ Plastics Industry Plc.
The event centered on company size as a factor of competitiveness, with particular attention given to enterprises that have outgrown the SME category—namely small mid-cap (SMC) companies employing between 250 and 750 people—and examined their economic significance and role in competitiveness.
As part of the conference, an analysis based on corporate data was presented, exploring, among other aspects, the economic weight, sectoral distribution, and export performance of Hungarian SMC companies.
The opening keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Richárd Szabados, State Secretary, responsible for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, technology, and the defense industry.
The results of a questionnaire survey conducted among the affected companies were presented by Dr. Alex Bató, Head of Department at the Economic Analysis Center of MGFÜ, who highlighted the challenges identified by companies as the most critical.
The presentations were followed by a roundtable discussion, during which three company leaders shared their practical experiences and responded to questions from participants.
Participants in the roundtable discussion were:
- Katalin Elvira Hajdárné Molnár, Chairwoman and CEO of PEMÜ Plastics Industry Plc.
- Dr. Zsolt Bischof, Managing Director of Béres Pharmaceuticals Plc.
- Dr. Sándor Horváth, Chairman and CEO of INTEGRÁL Food Industry and Trade Plc.
